Chapter Seven

Blade

Holy shit.

Jade, my sweetheart, is bawling her head off. I pointed to my bike and she lost it. What’s that all about? This thing is the love of my life. Well, that might be a little strong. Nah. That’s about right. I love my bike. I have spent the better part of the last few years building it. It has been ridable for only the last two years. Maybe she is still hurting from last night. I should have maybe gone slower. That must be it. There is no other reason for this outburst.

I can’t be having my boss see me with a woman who is crying. They will can my ass in a heartbeat. I am the security for this place. I protect people. And now they see me with a crying dollface? What kind of jerk are they going to think I am?

I’m just thinking of me again. I better try to manage this better. At least she is not running away hollering some craziness about me. I’ve heard the guys at the club say women can be loose cannons. Well, this is my loose cannon. I don’t know how big her ammo is, but it is loud.

I reach out to her. “Honey. What's wrong?”

She is still sobbing so loudly I’m not sure she heard me. I look around to see if there is anyone around that might be calling the police. I don’t see anyone yet. I think the only way for me to handle this is to just lean up against the bike and wait for this to blow over.

Hopefully it will. Wait; I think she is starting to come around. Maybe we can talk about her issue here in a minute. Now she is wiping the tears off her cheeks. Holy crap, I see some guy two aisles over in the car lot about to get into his truck. He is looking over here like he is suspicious of what is going on. That is the last damn thing I need. He’s still looking. He can see I’m not touching Jade in any way. She is still with me and not running away hollering something. I look at the guy and shrug my shoulders. He looks back with an almost understanding grin. And gets in his truck.

Jade starts to settle down more and starts saying something. “I’m sorry. I just had a bad memory. We need to talk. I hope you also have a car. Do you have a car?”

The guy in the truck is pulling around the corner and looking our way. Jade notices him and after a few moments figures out the guy is trying to watch for her. She sobers up, looks at him and mutters, “Thank you. I’m fine. You can go on.”

With that, the guy waves, shrugs his shoulders back at me, and takes off. It’s all good. Almost. Just need to figure out what this was all about.

Jade
